August 8

Mercedes Classic:
9th and 10th flights are coming in well. Birds are still being turned out daily between 7 and 8 in the morning. Yesterday and today are the only two days that we have not been over 100 degrees in the last 10 days. We expect to start flagging them in the next week and we will start training them in the second week of September. The first week of September is dove season. All monies are due now except for activation for backups. Our 1st race is tentatively scheduled for October 9th. We will have a 100 mile group toss 1 week prior to our first race and you can activate backups then. Any backup that is activated and does not go to the first race will be refunded. Feel free to call us with any questions 405-691-1313.

Texas Gusher:
9th and 10th flights are about half way in and the weather is pretty much the same as the Mercedes Classic. We've been very hot, although today is cool and the high should be in the low 90's. Dove season also starts here the 1st of September and we are very careful as they hunt very close to our property. We also expect training to begin here the middle of September. Our first race is October 29th. This can change due to weather. We expect to have a 100 mile group release a week before the 1st race. You can activate your birds after this release. Feel free to call us with any questions 940-482-6758.

July 28

Mercedes Classic:
Birds are still being turned out daily. The 9th and 10th flights are now about halfway in. We are not forcing them to fly, but we will be in two to three weeks, once we feel the flights are most of the way in. Temperatures have been in the 100's daily.

All entry fees are due this week. The entry fee for every team is $1200. Your 5th or 6th bird does not need to be activated at this time. You can activate them after the 100 mile toss, sometime in the first week of October.

Texas Gusher:
The temperature is over 100 each day. The flights are only about a quarter of the way in. It will probably be two more weeks before they have grown in well. The birds are out daily.

July 17th

Mercedes Classic:
The birds are being being run out of the loft daily before 8:00am. Every bird is run out, but not forced to fly due to the fact that they are growing their 9th and 10th flights back in. Temperatures have been in the low to mid 90's so we turn them out as early as we can. The birds are healthy and everything is normal. You can usually watch Rick, Steve or Dale trap them back in around 9:30 CST.

Texas Gusher:
We are turning the birds out every morning, but we are not forcing them out since we just pulled the 9th and 10th flights last weekend. As expected the birds aren't flying as much as they were before the flights were pulled. All the birds are healthy and we see no problems at this time. As always if you have a question that is not answered here, feel free to call or email.

July 10th

Mercedes Classic:
The birds are not flying as well as before because we have pulled the 9th and 10th flights and vaccinated. They are still going out daily and a few are flying. We are making them go out through our loading chutes to prepare them for when we start training. It is always a battle the first few times we do this. We will not do another inventory until August just prior to the start of training. Your entry fees are due in August.

Texas Gusher:
We are pulling the flights and vaccinating the Gusher birds on Friday. They have been exercising well, but the heat has shortened their exercise time. We will not do another inventory until August. These birds will not start training until September. Remember our 1st race is not until October 29th.

June 30th

Mercedes Classic: Birds are being turned between 8 and 8:30 every morning. Everyone is out flying pretty well. This week we will pull the 9th and 10th flights and vaccinate for Pox. Now is the best time as we are coming into the hottest part of the summer. We will still turn the birds out daily weather permitting, but we will not force them to fly. Steve and Rick just returned from Shanghai, China. It is a beautiful city and they had a great time.

Texas Gusher: The weather has been very good with hardly any wind, only one day of stormy weather last week. The birds are flying very well. Next week we plan on pulling the 9th and 10th flights and vaccinating for Pox. We are turning out the bird between 7:30 and 8:00am and bringing them in by 10:30.

June 20th

Mercedes Classic - 1010 birds

We are now excercising the birds about 8:00am every morning in Texas and Oklahoma. You can view this on our live web cam. The 1st of July we will pull flights and vaccinate for pox. Summer has arrived and we are in the 90's everyday.

We have been in a rainy pattern so our humidity has been high. The birds appear healthy and are starting to excercise more. Our bird count in each race is about final. We know of a couple of replacements coming soon.

For the Mercedes Classic your entry fees are due August 1st. The Gusher fees are not due until after the birds have been trained to 100 miles. Next week Steve and Rick will be gone to Shanghi, China. Our next report will come out in about 10 days when we do a hand held inventory at the time of pulling flights.

The weather has been nice and cool this week at the Mercedes Classic and the birds are loft flying very well every afternoon.

April 25th,

Mercedes Classic- 588 birds recieved
Texas Gusher-324 birds recieved

Inventory was taken today at the Mercedes Classic and Texas Gusher. We are now checking the inventory against the list of pigeons that should be here and we will notify anyone missing a bird, either by phone or email no later than Monday. Losses have been minimal and we are pleased with how the birds are doing.

Pigeons are still coming in daily with many more committed. When we receive the birds they are vaccinated for PMV, given a Flagyll tablet to treat against canker and sprayed with Permethrin to keep them free of mites, flies, and lice. A chip ring is assigned on arrival and this is how we take our inventory.

Birds are being turned out in the late afternoon, early evening. We typically leave them out for 1.5 to 2 hours, then fed in. Feel free to watch on our web cams.

Update April 23rd,

Mercedes Classic- 503 birds recieved
Texas Gusher-289 birds recieved

Birds at both locations are being turned out every day weather permitting in the evening time around 4:30-5:30. We feel this is the best time to get them settled and the best time to avoid hawk problems as they are more active in the morning hours.

An inventory was taken at the Gusher last week and one pigeon was missing and the owner was notified. We will do an inventory at the Mercedes Classic this week (Wednesday or Thursday) and anyone missing a bird will be notified by Friday. We will do a weekly inventory from here on out. If you don't hear from us then all your birds are still here. As each bird arrives we assign it with a Unikon chipring which allows us to keep tabs on the entries.

Anyone that would like to recieve weekly email updates can email us with their email address. All updates will also be posted on www.cbspigeon.com

If you have any questions about your entries or anything else pertaining to the race please feel free to call or email us and we will do our best to keep you well informed.
